TERMS & CONDITIONS

RISE Pilates Membership Terms and Conditions

Welcome to RISE Pilates! We are excited to have you as part of our Pilates community. To ensure the best experience for all members, please review and agree to the following terms and conditions for your membership.

1. Membership Options

Membership Plans: RISE offers various membership plans (e.g., Once a Week, Twice a Week, Three Times a Week)
Term: Current Memberships are priced for either a 3 monthly or 12 monthly basis and will automatically renew unless cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy (see Section 4).
These terms and conditions supersede any historic membership terms and conditions. If your current membership is a flex or 9 month you will have the option to move into either the 3 Month or 12 Month memberships after your current contract term has ended.

2. Class Bookings and Cancellations

Booking Classes: Members can book classes online via our scheduling platform. Your spot will be reserved for you in the class that you have signed up to as your regular class, we recommend rescheduling in advance, as spaces are limited to small groups.
Late Cancellations and No Shows: Classes must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled class time. Cancellations made within less than 24 hours from the start of the class will result in the loss of that session (credit). A no-show will also count as a used credit.
Waitlist: If a class is full, members can join the waitlist via the app. Should a spot become available, members will be automatically sent a notification via email and text to notify them. There is a limited amount of time to accept this spot before the space gets offered to others on the waitlist.

3. Membership Freeze Policy

Freezes: Members are permitted to put their membership on hold (freeze) for medical reasons or travel, with a minimum notice of 28 days. Membership holds are available for a minimum of 28 days and a maximum of 93 days per year (at the discretion of the company).   Your subscription freezes during this period as does access to your membership and credits.
Medical Freeze/Hold: For medical reasons, members may request a longer hold, provided documentation is submitted.

4. Membership Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Process: To cancel your membership, please provide one full payment cycle’s notice (28 days/4 weeks) at the end of your term (3 Month or 12 Month).  This is only possible after the full membership term has passed (3 month/12 month).  Written notice must be given via email to risepilatesbristol@gmail.com with the title ‘notice of membership cancellation’.
Early Termination: Memberships may not be cancelled mid-term unless due to medical reasons, relocation, or other extenuating circumstances, which must be approved by studio management. In this situation classes would have been had at a preferential rate for a long- term membership, therefore your account would be charged with back-dated prorated cost for classes in line with a shorter membership period. There is a £50 administration fee charged for Early Termination.
Refunds: No refunds will be issued for unused sessions or mid-term cancellations unless explicitly agreed upon due to extenuating circumstances.
Credits:  Credits carry over for a period of four billing cycles to be used during that period and expire if unused thereafter.  Your credits and membership cease on the day your membership cancels.  There is no monetary or time exchange on credits.
Downgrades: Should you downgrade your membership all credits accrued under the previous membership fall away on date of downgrade and are null and void.  All booked appointments and class spot reservations made on the previous cancelled membership fall away.

5. Payment Terms

Auto-Renewal: Membership payments are automatically taken on a 28 day/4 weekly cycle, if you wish to change card payment details please change it on your account before the payment is due to come out.
Payment Method: Membership fees must be paid via credit or debit card (or debit order) which will be charged automatically on your billing date.
Failed Payments: If a payment fails, the payment processing system will automatically try to take it again on the following day. If it fails a second time there is a £30 administration fee applied to your account, and we will notify you via email and request an updated payment method. Failure to resolve payment issues within 7 days will result in suspension of your membership and a cancellation of all your booked appointments and class spot reservations.

6. Class Package Expiration

Class Expiration: Sessions purchased as part of a membership plan (e.g. Once a Week, Twice a Week) are valid within the billing cycle of 28 days. If unused during a billing cycle, credits carry over for a period of four billing cycles to be used during that time.
Special Packages: Promotional packages or one-off class packs may have specific expiration dates outlined at the time of purchase which cannot be extended.

7. Studio Etiquette

Timeliness: Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join the class for safety reasons.
Cleanliness: Please wipe down all equipment after use with the provided cleaning supplies to maintain a hygienic environment.
Respect: To maintain a calm, peaceful studio environment, we ask all members to respect each other and the instructors. Loud conversations and phone usage in the studio space are discouraged, phones must be on silent and in bags/coats to provide a mindful environment for everyone.

8. Health & Safety

You must inform us and any instructors if there are any risks to your health by participating in Pilates practice, including in a Class, such as if you have a pre-existing medical condition, injuries, unwell in any way, pregnant or post-natal, muscle soreness/discomfort, prior to commencement (a “Medical Condition”).
Where you have a Medical Condition, members are advised to seek professional medical advice from a medical practitioner prior to commencing any exercise program if they are in any doubt about their ability to engage in exercise. Participating in any form of exercise at our Studios with a Medical Condition is done entirely at your own risk.
In the event of a viral infection, such as a cold, norovirus, or flu etc., we kindly ask that you wait a minimum of 48 hours after your symptoms have fully resolved before attending any classes or sessions with our instructors.

9. Rise Pilates Pregnancy Health & Safety Clause - Rise Pilates Bristol / Rise Chew Valley

At Rise Pilates Bristol, the health and safety of our clients is our highest priority. The following Pregnancy Health & Safety Policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions and applies to all expectant clients.

1. Mandatory Disclosure
Clients must notify Rise Pilates Bristol and their instructor immediately upon discovering they are pregnant, regardless of how early the pregnancy is. Failure to disclose pregnancy may result in suspension of classes until appropriate assessment has taken place.

2. Medical Clearance
Written clearance from a GP, consultant, or registered midwife may be required prior to participation in any Reformer Pilates session during pregnancy. We reserve the right to request updated clearance at any stage.

3. Participation Guidelines by Trimester
First Trimester (0–12 weeks)

Existing clients may continue to attend with appropriate modifications.

We may not accept new clients during this period without prior Pilates experience and/or a prenatal assessment.

Second Trimester (13–26 weeks)

Existing clients may continue with structured modifications.

New clients may be accepted following a prenatal assessment or 1:1 session.

From 16 weeks onwards, direct core work will be significantly limited.

From 18 weeks onwards, prolonged periods lying supine (on the back) will be avoided.

Important Restriction for New Clients (16+ weeks) - Rise Pilates Bristol does not place clients who are new to Pilates with us directly into a general mixed-level group Reformer class once they are beyond 16 weeks pregnant.
Standard Reformer classes commonly include direct core work and periods of supine positioning, which would not meet our safety standards or duty of care for a new prenatal client.

Third Trimester (27+ weeks)

Participation is generally restricted to private (1:1), semi-private, or dedicated prenatal classes only.

Attendance in standard mixed-level Reformer classes may not be permitted.

4. Recommended Options for Expectant Clients
To ensure safe and appropriate programming, we offer:

A dedicated Prenatal Reformer class, specifically designed around pregnancy-related considerations.

Currently held on Mondays at 12pm

An additional evening option is in development

A 1:1 Reformer session, recommended as the starting point for new prenatal clients so exercises can be tailored safely before transitioning into any group setting.

5. Exercise Modifications & Safety Measures
Throughout pregnancy, instructors will implement appropriate modifications, including but not limited to:

Avoiding prolonged supine (lying on back) work after 16–20 weeks

Avoiding prone (lying on stomach) positions

Avoiding deep spinal twists

Avoiding high-intensity or impact-based movements

Limiting direct abdominal loading

All modifications are applied in line with current best practice guidance for prenatal exercise.

6. Studio Discretion
Rise Pilates Bristol reserves the right to refuse or restrict participation in any class if, in our professional judgement, the activity may pose a risk to the health or wellbeing of the client or baby.

7. Liability
All pregnant clients will be required to sign an updated health declaration and liability waiver acknowledging:

They are participating voluntarily

They have disclosed their pregnancy

They have sought appropriate medical advice

They understand the inherent risks associated with exercise during pregnancy

This policy is in place to ensure the highest standard of safety, care, and professional responsibility for both mother and baby.

If you have any questions regarding prenatal participation, we are always happy to discuss the most suitable and supportive option for you.

Post-Natal Return:
You can typically return 6 weeks after a natural birth, or 8–12 weeks after a C-section, subject to doctor clearance

10. Liability Waiver

By signing up for a membership, members agree to our Liability Waiver and acknowledge that Pilates, like any physical activity, carries inherent risks. Members are responsible for notifying instructors of any injuries or conditions that may affect their ability to safely participate in classes.

11. Studio Closures

Holidays and Maintenance: The studio may close on public holidays or for maintenance. Members will be notified in advance where possible, and any sessions affected by closures will be credited or rescheduled.
Unforeseen Circumstances: In the event of unforeseen closures (e.g., due to weather or emergencies), the studio will communicate with members via email or text.

12. Changes to Membership Terms

Amendments: RISE Pilates reserves the right to amend membership terms and conditions at any time. Members will be notified of any changes at least 30 days in advance.
Price Changes: If there are any changes to membership pricing, we will provide written notice 30 days prior to the new rates taking effect.
